George Carter
Landscape Architect


One of Britain’s most highly acclaimed landscape architects, George Carter is renowned for both public and private garden designs throughout Europe and the United States. At Vineyard Estates, his influence will be visible in beautiful gardens, serene verandas and exquisite water features that complement the architecture and grounds.

In 1999, his Sculpture Garden won a gold medal at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show in England and his annual exhibits of topiary at Chelsea have won gold every year since.

Carter’s commissions have included work for the British Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sandringham and Holyrood. Currently serving as landscape architect for Vineyard Estates in Charlottesville, Virginia, he is also redesigning the gardens at Patricia Kluge’s Albemarle House on the grounds of Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyard.

Magazines throughout the world, including House and Garden, The World of Interiors, and Hortus, have featured Carter’s work.
